RE-ELECT Jenny Brock

About Jenny

Jenny has served on the Johnson City Commission since 2013 and now holds the position of Vice-Mayor.  Prior to her service on the Commission, she served on the Johnson City Board of Education for six years.  She is a committed community leader who believes education is one of the leading drivers of economic development and stands strong to promote excellence schools.  She holds degrees in Physical Education and Exercise Science from the University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University and completed studies in International Management at the University of Texas.

Jenny has been a leader on the Johnson City Commission in recognizing the outdoors, sports tournaments and entertainment as viable business sectors for economic development.  Our natural beauty, amenities and easy travel access positions us to be an even bigger visitor destination, while continuing to build a great quality of life for our citizens.  We are currently investigating the possibility of combining our several U. S. Forest Service recreation areas into one Regional Recreation Area.

Jenny gives her non-civic time to the First Tee Program as a Level III Head Coach.  She is a coach and mentor to young people and teaches character development through the game of golf.  She also promotes health and fitness for youth as a Board Member of the UP & AT ‘EM Foundation which started the successful Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot with over 4,500 citizens participating each year.  The proceeds of this event is invested in other youth health and fitness events in our community.  She also serves on the Board of Directors of the electrical utility distributor BrightRidge, the Washington County/Johnson City Animal Control Board, Ballad Health Workforce Committee, Hidden Heroes Caregiver Program and the NeTREP Outdoor Taskforce.
Prior to retiring from the corporate world in 2001, Jenny taught in elementary, middle school, high school and University in the areas of Health, Physical Education and Exercise Physiology.  She then transitioned to the private sector starting both Texas Instrument and Nortel Networks global wellness programs.  She moved into Human Resources her last ten years and spent two years living and working in Southeast Asia based in Singapore.

Jenny is a wife, mother and most proudly a grandmother.  Her three grandchildren Tess, Tate and Rocky call her Gran and she is frequently seen with them on the wonderful Johnson City Tweetsie Trail, exploring Founder’s Park or hiking Rocky Fork or Roan Mountain.  She and her husband Michael are members of First Christian Church.
